You can also set up an Apple ID for a child under the age of 13, with a nice feature where the parent must approve any purchases the child makes. It’s important to note that if your kid is over the age of 13 and has their own email address or Apple ID, you can still add them to the family account by typing in their email address. Set it up by going to Settings > locate iCloud on the left hand menu (top left of the screen). Remember with the passcode you have just created you can always go back into restrictions to limit content further or to disable the restrictions.įamily Sharing allows you to set up to six family members to share iTunes, iBooks, Photo Albums, Calendars, or even to help locate each other’s missing devices. Further down you can filter the content on the iPad, including Websites where you can limit adult content or specify the websites the sites that your child can and cannot have access to. You can simply turn off Safari, Camera or other apps and more importantly you can turn off the ability to install apps or in-app purchases. When you set up restrictions on the iPad you will be required to enter a passcode to switch them on/off. You can turn Restrictions on by going into Settings > Select General on the left hand side, and then half way down the page on the right you will find Restrictions.
